Founder of The Tan Cave & Personal Tanner

Hi, I’m Karina.

I moved from Brazil to Australia in 2005, never imagining that one day I would build a career in spray tanning.

What started as curiosity became a passion — and then became a profession.

Over the past 10+ years, I’ve worked hands-on as a spray tan specialist, refining technique, understanding skin behaviour, and obsessing (yes, obsessing) over how to make a tan look natural, smooth and long-lasting.

Because to me, tanning is not just colour.

It’s confidence.

The juggle between being a mum and building a business is quite inexplicably hard and I won't say I do it well hahahah but some gets done. I am a mum of two boys and a girl and married to an Australian.

I came up with the name The Tan Cave because that is how I call my tanning studio. When I get mums bringing their kids in I wisper to them "welcome to my "TAN CAVE" and they know there are lollies involved so they love coming to the "CAVE" with their mums.

In Brazil I went to two universities, physiotherapy (never finished, coursed 1 year and 6 months of it) I just thought I wasn't smart enough to keep going, I learn ;) differently, then I went to study Tourism Management thinking I was going to travel a lot ... hahahahahahahahaahahah, that is the only thing I didn't do.

 

Came to Australia to learn English and go back, but it obviously didn't work as plan one!

Now my business is still small, I love days I can use two appointments with one client so we can chat away and laugh, and sometimes a little tear but they go away before the priority starts, the spray tan.

I have a lot of naughty clients and I see it all. I see them not exfoliating, them not removing deodorant, using any body wash or a very bad exfoliating mitt. I see it all and I used to do personalised prescriptions for them with my "Systems" but I realised that there was many more that were doing the same, no matter how much I explain on my socials or emails.

 

The Tan Cave is not about selling ONLY, it is about getting it right!

I am in LOVE with my spray tanning business but I can't wait to see where The Tan Cave goes.
